Ending
Enigma reveals that he decided against detonating the bomb after all, reasoning that the point of the whole challenge had been to see if Jinji could solve his most challenging puzzles; and since Jinji managed to solve everything and get the core to the exit in time, the fact he dropped it shouldn't be counted against him. Enigma therefore explains to Jinji that he disabled the bomb at the very last second, and offers to declare the challenge an honourable draw between the two of them. A relieved Jinji graciously accepts!

Comic Description & Plot Outline

Wanting to get to know Enigma better, Jinji invites Enigma into his study and asks him to demonstrate his abilities. Enigma considers this an honour, and presents Jinji with a series of 3-dimensional wood jigsaws as examples of the types of puzzle he loves to make. To his surprise, however, Jinji solves them all in record time! Having prided himself in being an expert puzzle maker and locksmith in life, the spirit Enigma is shocked to learn just how skilled Jinji is at puzzles, and decides he needs to step up his game. So he pays a visit to a particular pungent prankster pal of Jinji’s. Together, the two of them create a truly explosive challenge for Jinji to attempt…

  • The Mallow comic That New House Smell, which can be viewed at Mallow’s website, is referenced twice in this comic. That New House Smell was a comic written by Jinji and Panda for Mallow’s 2023 Birthday, and sees Jinji and his friends build Mallow a house to call his own. Mallow’s house features a hidden underground basement specifically designed so that any stinky antics that happen inside it cannot be detected from outside. Though not explicitly stated, Challenge Unlocked’s main challenge is heavily implied to take place within Mallow’s basement. This is why Jinji finds the room familiar, as he and his friends built the house for Mallow. However, because Enigma is so quick to lock Jinji up, Jinji has no time to think, and so doesn’t realize Mallow’s involvement until he makes his appearance. Additionally, when saying goodbye to Jinji, Mallow teases Jinji by saying “stay stinky”, a catchphrase that also appears in that comic.
  • Enigma’s voice takes on a sinister tone as he says the word “consequence” on Page 6. This is the same evil voice he used for most of the challenge in The Unexpected Enigma, which first introduced Enigma and features a similar seemingly explosive challenge.
